| We started out towards western Maryland and cut across the south eastern tip of Pennsylvania. Ohio was next and then Indiana. I thought Indiana and Illinois were gorgeous! Crossing Wisconsin was absolutely spectacular and so was Minnesota. Started to see more pine trees. We discovered a park in Wisconsin full of white pelicans. There were hundreds of them and 3 quarters of them had a fish nestled in their beaks. What an awesome sight they were!!! While crossing Minnesota we stopped at a little gas station in the middle of nowhere. Lucky for us it was there because we would have run out of gas. A nice little old lady and her husband ran the station and they had pet deer. We fed the deer some bits of food she gave us in an ice cream cone. It was funny too because when my husband went to give her back the ice cream cone she said no the deer would eat it and it did LOL...Well enough of that, then we headed towards Minneapolis International Falls where we were to cross the border the next morning. I dreamed of going to Canada ever since I was a little girl. Never thought I'd have the money to go. I love it there so much that one day I hope to live there. The country side is so very beautiful and the people are all very friendly. We felt welcome everywhere we ventured in Canada. We stayed at The Silver Water Wheel Lodge once we reached Lac Seul. I caught some amazing fish including a 41" northern pike and received a master anglers pin from the lodge This is my second year at the lodge. What a wonderful place to visit. Everyone is very kind. The owner and his family, the housekeepers, cooks, guides, etc make your stay there worth its weight in gold. They cater to your every need and aim to please. The meals are out of this world and the shore lunch is a special treat. If you ever want to go on a fishing trip that will most certainly amaze you then book a stay at The Silver Water Wheel Lodge. It's a vacation you'll never forget. We decided to take a different route home around the northern shore of Lake Superior towards the Border Sault Saint Marie. Unfortunately, it was pouring down rain and really foggy most of the trip home and we didn't get to see much. Though we intend on traveling that way back to Lac Seul next time we go. |
